Cole Jackson Friday 9th May 2008
Fortunately a dilemma was avoided when we were faced with a last minute change of artist that was, until Alf Roberts stepped in and saved the day. We were hoping to introduce the young well sought after Middi but unfortunately he was admitted into Hospital for a routine op two days before our May Social. Stepping in for Middi was a young guy who travelled all the way from Nottingham, Cole Jackson who, unheard of in our area, arrived in plenty of time before his first set performance. Cole who was obviously suffering from a foot problem made him-self comfortably seated on stage as he started his first set. I is always worrying when you have an artist stepping in at the last minute, especially one you have never heard before but Cole took us all by surprise and thrilled us by his rich mellow voice. Playing guitar and singing to good quality backing tracks, he was extremely pleasant to listen too. Dancers too enjoyed his choice of songs. Cole told me later, that he doesn’t normally sing to Linedancers as he likes to perform pure country, however he went on to say that he was amazed the dancers were so versatile by dancing to all of his songs. Cole Jackson was a great hit and the feed back following his performance was most encouraging. I’m sure we will be seeing Cole again in the future. TJA
